Skywarn is a critical element for the National Weather Service. As you may
remember from the presentation last month, each of the area counties
(Sumter, Lake and Marion) are served out of different weather service
offices. As a result of our location, the National Weather Service radar
can only see from about 6,500 feet and up.
That is where Skywarn observers can assist - in providing reports on what's
happening closer to ground level (inside the bubble).
Verne Betlach is our local coordinator for skywarn, and asked that I pass
this information along to you.
Please see attached on assisting with Skywarn reporting
Thank you,
Steve
