[TVARC] Help on FT-817 with FT8

Ed, I was having the exact same problem today with my radio, not a FT-817, but an Elecraft K4. 

 

John, NP2B, gave me the same suggestion as Rusty gave to you and suggested that I check that slider and indeed that was the problem.  Some how it had slipped down just a bit and it was shutting me down!  I hope that was the solution for you.

 

I am a fledging FT8 op and am back in business.

 

We are blessed to have experienced gentlemen such as John, Rusty and others in the club to help us along!!

I believe the default power setting in WSJT-X is set to zero.  Check the slider and make sure it is all the way up.

I’m using a Digirig interface with the latest WSJT-X 2.5.4. The rig-control interface works properly. The receive part of the audio interface works. But the darn thing will not transmit. The FT817 thinks it is transmitting in either TUNE or OPERATE. Transmit light comes on, DC amps increase slightly (to .64A from .42A on receive). But the wattmeter shows no RF output at all. I have played with menu items, including #46: SSB mic level and #3: 9600 mic. Neither has any effect at any setting. I must be missing some setup function, but it has eluded me.
