Hi Members of TVARC’s MailList,
Another long-lasting, vendor of amateur radio equipment —- “Universal Radio” in Worthington, Ohio —- is closing its store permanently on November 30, 2020. See this link (URL) for more details:
https://www.universal-radio.com/RetireNotice.html
I remember purchasing several items from Universal Radio over the years I lived in Ohio. Their booth at the annual Dayton Hamfest was always a required stop to shop at. Their presence in the ham gear market will be missed but we wish the owners all the best as they phase into a well deserved retirement.
Looking back ... I reflect that I’ve seen several radio stores/chains fade away, including “Olsen’s Electronics,” “Lafayette Radio”, “Amateur Electronic Supply” (technically sold to “Ham Radio Outlet” but Cleveland store closed for good), and now “Universal Radio.” 🙁
Stay safe from COVID-19.
73,
Tony/K4QR
