Severe Weather Preparations
While emergency management continues to be a function of the county in which
you reside, the District works extremely hard in ensuring the safety of
District staff, residents of The Villages and District facilities. In
preparation for the potential of severe weather and sustained winds higher
than 20 mph this week, you may see some of the following preparations
occurring throughout the community:
* Community Watch will begin removing gate arms throughout the
community on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. If you approach a gate in which
the gate arm has been removed, please use caution and stop before
proceeding. The process of reinstalling the gate arms will begin once the
potential for sustained winds has subsided.
* The District is proactively reviewing storm water basin levels and
planning necessary water transfers as needed to accommodate the projected
rainfall from the storm to alleviate the risk of flooding.
* Flags may be lowered.
* While some of the pool deck furniture is currently stacked due to
social distancing, the furniture may be secured, if necessary.
These actions are based upon the projected storm trajectory and preparations
may vary as to the scope of any changes over the next several days.
Due to the size of our community, please understand that it may take days to
make the necessary preparations. We greatly appreciate your patience. As
we continue to receive weather updates, information will be provided on
<http://www.districtgov.org/> www.DistrictGov.org and sent via
e-Notification.
Now is also the time to ensure your hurricane preparedness plan is active
and you have the necessary supplies.
