Who needs to go to Montserrat? Just operate the Florida QSO Party during a
year when everyone is shut indoors with nothing to do (at least here we can
play golf)!

I think I made two S&P QSOs, with the rest of the time run, run, running.
Some of the time, like early Sunday, was a bit slow, but mostly had a stream
of callers. A contest like this favors low antennas, since most of the
participants were US and Canada, even though there were a handful of
Europeans that called in occasionally. So it was truly tailor-made for us
here in The Villages. The 500 watt amp helped too, of course, allowing me
to be heard and called by a bunch of weaker stations, probably running in
the 100W low power or QRP categories.

And there were times, especially on SSB, that I ran quite a big pileup. I
saw the rate/hour meter once at 303. I don't think I've ever had it so
high. That rate didn't last, of course, but my top 10 minute rate was at
252, and top hour was 160 QSOs. And all this from just one county, unlike
the past two years when I joined Wayne, N4FP, to operate in 20-30 counties
over the 20 hours. Entering each county allowed us to work everyone all
over again. If memory serves, we had about 2000 QSOs when all was said and
done, all on CW (you know Wayne)! But this past weekend, I entered in the
Mixed, SSB & CW category, and although CW contacts were worth twice those on
SSB, sometimes the SSB rate made up for that.

Worked all states except South Dakota and DC on CW. Missed those and also a
few W7 states on SSB.

Thanks to all the TVARCers calling in. Let me know if I've missed anyone:

As a club, we had six of us reporting our scores real-time on the
contestonlinescore.com/clubs/ website. If the scores end roughly as is
(although many of us did not use the website), then we finished third as a
club, behind the contest sponsor, Florida Contest Group, and Silver Springs
Radio Club (where N4FP contributed his score). This would make us the
runner-up for the Top Florida Club Station (FCG is ineligible). But maybe
if we all get our scores in we can jump into second place and grab that
plaque! So be sure to get your log in at:
