I think Pete should have tried the EA RTTY contest, instead of the Polish
contest.
Lots of fun, and except for a dead 10 meters, even 15 meters showed some
signs of life.
The KPA500 performed flawlessly. I mean, like a rock. Full 500+ watts out,
with a flat SWR across the bands, using a 20' Flagpole antenna, remote
tuner, and ground screen. I can tell on 80 meters while not making many
contacts even when hearing strong stations indicated to me that the 20'
antenna is just not long enough antenna for that band and the radiation
pattern off the antenna is probably a very high angle making for a poor
transmitting antenna. Next phase will be to add some wire from the top to
make the antenna an End Fed inverted-L. That should improve 80 and 40
meters.
Looking forward to the FTn contest next weekend.
