That’s a great article Don.

In The Villages we have so many obstacles preventing us from having dependable access to our HF frequencies so it is refreshing to see an approach that is effective in dealing with our challenges. Your design solves most of those problems but with the added benefit of not requiring the expensive additional remote auto-tuner that many flagpole installations require. If an operator wishes to use, as an example, 500 watts then a high power auto-tuner is required. There is currently a 20’ OCF flagpole with LDG RT-600 tuner package advertised new for $1,095.00. I’ll guess that your design would come in at an exceptionally affordable price, especially if the operator were to do his/her own work.

It is pretty apparent from this article and your QST submissions that you have put years of research into this subject. Your results speak for themselves.

About a year ago I gave a "peer review" presentation on an antenna that was up and running.

That material was about to be submitted to ARRL.

As such I wasn't able to distribute "hard copy" on it because it's "official debut" needed to be by ARRL.

Totally understandable.

As of today it's in print in the on-line June issue of QST published on-line by ARRL, so I can now provide more detail.

On my website www.w1ejm.com you will find it identified as 2018  NEW > Double Topped Flagpole Antenna

That material is the most current and has more info than could fit in the available QST space. It also explains work completed since the submission for publishing, including the current state of development testing for 160 Meter operation at 100 Watts.

The text also links to the 2018 Antenna Competition Manuscript which contains the full set of info presented at "peer review".

You will also find a link to Radial Installation which explains the simple method I have used here for many years.

I hope you find the information useful.
