I found the exact factory filter for around $14 with free shipping on eBay.

Folks:

I just changed the water filter on our Whirlpool  refrigerator - it has an ice maker and cold water tap.

The manual suggests changing the filter every 6 months.

Take your manual to Lowe's or Home Depot so they can look up the correct filter for your fridge.

Our filter is on the bottom front left of the grille and changing took about 30 seconds - use a towel on the floor for drippings.

Prices at Walmart, Lowe's or Home Depot ran from $47 to $50.

Amazon.com has them for $44.

You should run about 2 gallons of water through the cold water tube to flush the system and ....

If it has been much over 6 months, dump the ice and give it 24 hours to fill the ice bucket.
