[TVARC] FT-4 for contesting

From what I read, I think it might only have value over FT8 in contesting. I addition, FT4 and 8 do not really eat up much BW - about as much as one SSB station! 
Compare using 3KHz by FT4 during a contest with 100KHz by RTTY during a contest (no offense to RTTY - I participate). For me it is acceptable. 
Question: will the increased speed be offset by decreased sensitivity???
