Hi Members of TVARC"s Mailling List,

The Salvation Army Team Emergency Radio Network (SATERN) has activated a
special, emergency communications radio net in response to Hurricane
Michael. Here are the details about this SATERN Net activation:

"The Southern Territory SATERN SSB Net will be activated on 7.265 MHz
beginning Wednesday, 10 October 2018 at 0800 (Central). The Net will
continue to operate until 2000 / 8:00 PM CT that day. If required, the Net
will resume operations on Thursday, 11 October 2018."

Of course, that SATERN Net is only one of several ham radio, emergency
communications nets that are (or will) be activated in response to this
dangerous hurricane. CAVEAT: REMEMBER "EARS" are more important than
"MOUTHS" on these nets. So, listen carefully to the Net Control Station(s)
and be cognizant of the net's operating procedure BEFORE transmitting. You
are always welcome to monitor (listen to) these nets. However, before
transmitting, be sure you are following the net's protocol (i.e. some of
these nets do NOT want check-ins UNLESS you are an "officially" designated
station or your are in the IMPACTED area. So, follow the general guideline
of using your headphones/speaker before your microphone.
