Hi Ed,
This, and other solutions that have been proposed by club members is very creative.Unfortunately, unless the ARRL sanctions, and widely advertises, an FT-8 approach forField Day, I think we should just stick to demonstrating FT-8 outside of the FD contest.
Thanks,George K2DM

Subject: FT8 and Field Day Operation

I've been playing with the FT8 program and finally figured out how it can
be used for Field Day.  The "73" message at the end of a QSO can be
customized with other messages.  I entered "CQ FD K4VRC" and "K4VRC 1A
NFL" and saved these messages.  When selected, the program sends them
like any normal transmission.  The messages are within the 13 character
field limit.

When using them and someone calls, you have to be careful to select
"K4VRC 1A NFL" to answer the station.  If not, the program will
automatically scroll to a report.  It will also end with the normal "73"
message, i.e. not the field day exchange.

Hope this helps for demonstrating FT8.

73 de Ed
