Hi Members of TVARC's Maillist,
Pete's on the right track. I just tried his idea to use the "cloning"
feature in WSJT-X software to enter the unusual FT8 frequencies that the
Baker Island 2018 DXpedition will be using. This cloning feature is
definitely the way to go. Unfortunately, I don't have time to provide all
the details; so here are the hightlights:
Start WSjT-X (be sure your are using version 1.9.1 & NOT a beta);
Select "Configurations" > "Default" > "Clone" to make a backup of your
current setting BEFORE you do anything you might regret not having a backup
before your did it;
Select "Configurations" > "Default Copy" > "Rename" [to rename your
backed-up copy of your original settings to say "BackupCopy20180626 at 1356"
(a filename that will mean something to you; here I've timestamped it);
Select "Configurations" > "Default" > "Clone" again;
Select "Configurations" > "Default" > "Rename" again & rename this
configuration settings set to something meaningful (like "BakerIsland");
Select "Configurations" > "BakerIsland" & NOW start making the various
changes Pete documented so well in his earlier \posting to this Maillist
(i.e. add the unique Baker FT8 frequencies, toggle ON the "Hound" mode",
etc).
When you finished making all the necessary changes to that "BakerIsland"
settings set, you'll have at least 2 configurations (your "Default" and
your new "BakerIsland"). So, the cloining feature is the cats meow for
getting ready for Baker!
