The International Space Station is transmitting SSTV pictures celebrating 40 years in space on April 11-12. Mode is PD120; most SSTV programs will recognize it automatically. Requires nothing more than a good HT or scanner (FM) receiving on 145.800 with either an iPhone with Black Cat SSTV app or an android phone or tablet running Robot36, with the device mic held near the HT speaker. For Windows, MMSSTV works quite well. Small 2 meter beam will work well, even without elevation.
A complete picture takes 2 minutes.
There was an excellent pass at 1:12 today (Wednesday). There is a low elevation (6 deg) pass at 2:49 and 7:44pm today, then a good pass (61 degrees) at 9:19pm tonight.
Go stand out in the backyard with an HT and tablet; keep the neighbors (and your spouse) wondering what you are up to now.
