Another good reason to find a place outside The Villages if you want to do serious DXing or Contesting. It just costs money to get an open place for towers, beams, and lots of money for good towers, rotators, beams, and all the accessories.. Or move out of The Villages like Marty and Wayne and buy a nice place with some land for a tower and lots of wires. 20 years ago when I moved here I decided I could no longer be very effective with extremely limited antennas and most likely no amp although some are able to use an amp if careful and now neighbors have better TVs etc that aren’t quite as sensitive to RF. I don’t have the patience to sit in the chair for long periods of S&P with an occasional contact when someone hears my call thru the muck of others. That is why I rarely go on during regular contests anymore. I try to have a good time with an hour or less on CWT every Wednesday and usually most of the contacts are with others that I have contacted before. I don’t use a CW reader. I can’t carry on with a long QSO at 30wpm and more anymore, but usually don’t have trouble copying the call, name, & member number on CWT (and I use Call History for CWT on N1MM or N1MM+) which lets me check my copy.
I’m not complaining, but do miss being able to operate with good antennas and good propagation which for everyone is a problem.

Frank,
I get that kind of stuff all the time, it's generally misc. rf generated by one of the many rfi generators (plasma tv's, switching power supplies, anything with a microprocessor or electronic switching) that we find in the Villages.

Does anyone else detect noise, sounding like a helicopter, on 30M. I detect if from about 10.127 MHz to 10.169 MHz.
This is probably just another case of me proving I belong in The Villages!!
