Well Bill you bring up some good points.
I inherited this transmitter from a friend. I am just hoping to keep it
original at least as being vintage is concerned.
Re the glow, if I got those carbon plates glowing I would be concerned HI!
I suppose when it comes down to it I can always swap out to a more available
tube. Heck, I was even considering 304's or 250's as you mentioned.
The modulators are HF200's, the exciter / doubler is a 807 & HF100. All in a
fully packed 7ft rack.
Maybe a pair of 250's modulating a pair of 250's is not a bad idea.
I don't know how many years the transmitter has sat idle but I will get it
going sometime soon. Hey, its been around since about 1937- a couple more
years will be insignificant!
