[TrunkCom] future scanners and CQPSK

Hi everyone, yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine about the changes
in Michigan and about the fact that some of our MPSCS digital trunked
system cites that use the CQPSK modulation are so difficult to monitor. I
am using the Pro-96 with the upgrade and 800 MHz antenna and all, but I
think still that the ability of scanners with P-25 capabilities could do
better with regard to CQPSK. I am about 4.5 miles from one of the cites
for Detroit, and the audio is good for a while, and then you have to
relocate the radio to another hotspot. This also is a problem for a lot
of the officers around me who would have scanners in the cars to listen to
Detroit but that has become a problem with choppy audio. Right now they
are adding MPSCS TGS to our radios, but no mention of Detroit. From what
I've heard though when you are out by where I am in Grosse Pointe you get
the "out-of-range" reading. One department has had some success with
monitoring Detroit via a scanner but that is with an outdoor antenna
mounted 60 feet up. I am just wondering if anyone has heard anything with
regard to future scanners and the way they handle CQPSK?
