[TrunkCom] VOIP type delay with EDACS patch

Hi everyone, over the weekend I was out of town on a trip to see an old
friend from school, and I managed to get some monitoring in with the local
EDACS system where this person lives.  I noticed that with the fire-EMS
dispatch TG which is an analogue one that is patched to a VHF frequency
for the tone outs had a voice over IP type delay when you monitored the TG
and the conventional freq.  Is this common in EDACS systems, and what
causes this?  Again, both the talk group on the system and the VHF freq
were analogue.
