Actually, the control channel has always been Digital data.
Mainly you have three types of Motorola trunk systems (I know about
VSELP but they're almost extinct by now):
-3600 CC and analog voice
-3600 CC and using both, P25 digital voice and analog voice (also known
as mixed-mode)
-9600 CC and P25 digital voice (also known as fully-compliant APCO 25
system)
