>The 796D has become the new 780xlt (production discontinued) as a
mobile scanner. Uniden is working over-time to release several stylish,
compact
and hopefully good quality handheld scanners.

>Is there any information about a 796D upgrade with the "bugs" worked
out and some new features?

There are no bugs in the current model 796. And right now there are no
plans for a 796 upgrade on the drawing board. I would imagine given the
normal progression of things that IF Dynamic memory is a success and
works well then we will see that in models of the future. Of course, the
new norm is NO MORE BATTERY PACKS for their handhelds. Thank God and
Greyhound they are gone with the new models.

>Also, I have heard that Uniden will be releasing a new BCi96 card.

Haven't heard a word on this one.

>Can anyone confirm this?
No need to come out with a new card as I see it. The firmware in place
works fine and can be upgraded from their website. No new card required.
Dave pretty much covered all of Jeff's questions so I won't repeat all
that here. We have all the up-to-date details on the Grove Radio Rumors
pages.
