[TrunkCom] identifying pro-voice talk groups and finding equipment that will allow monitoring pro-voice

I would not hold your breath for the Pro-Voice scanner. I think the idea
that Uniden was doing R&D on a scanner for PV might have been wishful
thinking. Last we heard through the back channels was that MACOM wasn't
the least bit interested in licensing anyone to build a scanner to
decode there Pro Voice system. Since it is proprietary, no license, no
scanner in the public retail market place. Can you say bummer!

I had heard on Lindsay's site that Uniden has started R&D for a scanner
capable of decoding ProVoice. I'm guessing that if Uniden is doing it,
GRE/Radio Shack is doing it as well.
Even though the local military base just went 3600 Motorola digital, I'm
holding out for a ProVoice capable scanner. I just hope that they will
eventually lower the price! :-)

That's too bad! I was in that perdicament for all of 2002 and the last
part of 2001 until the BC250D came a long. I know that before that
radio came though people were using Moto gear to monitor if they were
lucky enough to get a hold of it. How about EDACS, and is there any
word from Uniden on when they may have a Provoice scanner coming out?
