In the scanners with which I am familiar (PRO-93, 94, & BC245XLT), for Motorola trunktracking, it does not matter whether they are in sequence or together. The 93 does not even need any frequencies entered except the control channel(s).
This comment relates to making the scanner actually work properly; I rather doubt that the machine would operate more or less efficiently based on the frequency locations within a bank!
