I understand the Cook County TRS, will eventually become 9600 baud once the
system is completed.

The Downriver TRS, was running 9600 baud for a week as an experiment to see
how the system performed. They had some rather acute coverage problems,
because only one site was online when the test was conducted. However, the
system now has four simulcast sites and much improved coverage over the single
site system.

The only reason Downriver TRS is operating at 3600 baud, is because Wayne
County has several analog talkgroups on the system and would not be able to
access the system with their MTS-2000 handheld units if the switch was made to
9600 baud. Once Wayne County installs all of their new radios, the system may
very well be boosted back up to 9600 baud.

The Western Wayne County TRS, along with the new Detroit City TRS, are
operating at 3600 baud until more tower sites are added. Once the new tower
sites are added to the Western Wayne TRS, they plan on shifting up to 9600
baud, to become compatible with the MSP system.
