I don't know much about the 780, but I know that some other people who
can't see have been frustrated with it.  I've been meeting people in my
situation and just today I met someone finally who I have talked to on
repeaters around here, and he doesn't seem to understand the programming
particularly on the trunking side of scanning.  Is programming the 780
like the 895 or 245 at all?  I on't have any idea on the 780.y
