[TrunkCom] EDACS System Questions

I think Jeff may be on the right track.
1. My theory. You're not hearing the control channel but EDACS MDT data.
There are certain freq channels with this capability, so you may notice that
it happens only on certain freqs. I think that real radios know to either
listen for dotting (beeeeep, beep, beep) at the end of transmission, or this
data. I suspect that when there is data in the queue for a given freq, it
is transmitted immediately after a voice transmission ends without waiting
for the dotting. I wonder if the trunktrackers sometimes miss because of
this.
2. Several EDACS systems have periodic test transmissions, just about 3
seconds of carrier followed by dotting. Could be the scanner is snagging
that on occasion by accident?
3. You have to tell the BC780 to track I-calls before it will. Consult the
manual. Nearest system to me makes extensive...almost to the point of
absurdity...use of this function.
