I haven't seen any available commercially but I've been building them for
years. My junior high school science teacher (a ham and my elmer before I
knew what an elmer was) taught me how to make one for an AM radio kit I put
together for class. On most bands, it works better than a built-in antenna.
But it isn't better than an outside antenna and it can bring in a lot of
powerline noise.

I just read somewhere that you can get a whole house antenna that you plug
into a socket and it has a BNC connector. Is this true, and if so, does
someone know exactly what it is called?
