Not a silly question at all (but it is just a *wee* bit off topic).
However, folks might find this useful so here goes.

Look for Novus polish, which comes in several different grades. Start
with the finest grade and if that doesn't quite do the trick move to the
next higher grade. You might end up with several bottles of Novus in
different grades before you get the result you want but it should be
worth it.

The antique radio community has been using this stuff for years to
restore the dial windows of old radios and it works quite well. I've
done a couple of old Crosley table radios with it and have been quite
pleased with the results.
