Good question, there is nothing to stop other teams and spotters from
listening in. When I went to Louden, the scanner was a mess, so I only put 2
or 3 teams on the scanner, but most times, the teams are too busy with thier
own business to worry about when the other guy might pit.
I should also point out that scanners and races, especially NASCAR, are a
big business, I estimate between 30 and 50 percent of people that go to
winston cup races have scanners, some more that one.

There have been reports on some of the racing frequency lists of teams using
digital scrambling...

Yes, the NFL uses analog "rolling code" inversion scrambling. You can tell
it's a voice talking, but you can't make out what they are saying...
