The Pro-93 and 2053 are the same scanner, portable vs base.

The Pro-93 firmware is version 1.0
The Pro-2053 firmware is version 1.1

The Pro-93 has a problem with alpha tags that impacts
45 channels. The problem does not exist in the 2053.
It results in the partial loss of alpha tags in banks 8 & 9
(or 1 & 2, your choice)

45 Channels are linked so that changing the alpha tag in 1
changes the other.

For example:
000 = 816
001 = 817
002 = 818 etc

Many users have worked around it by making banks
8 & 9 trunking channels and depending upon talkgroup
alpha tags.

Shame on Radio Shack for not responding to many emails
asking about a future fix. So far, no official comment.

The Pro-93 is a great scanner. I'm keeping mine
despite this handicap. Worth buying for the sale price
of $169.00.
