Could you elaborate on what happened in Gainesville?

As far as the expense of changing the system at this point, I 
agree.  However, I assume you do not belive they have a prayer of getting 
Motorola to pay for it.  While Philadelphia's claim that Motorola assured 
them of privacy from monitors seems ridiculous, if they make a big enough 
stink who knows ... stranger things have happened.  But let's remember that 
as far as I know, this whole situation has not been confirmed.  To the 
list: does anyone have confirming information?

On a related note, I did see a news article about problems of interference 
with 800MHz systems from cell towers.  Philadelphia was mentioned in the 
article as anticipating such problems, and are concerned.  At least one PD 
just West of Philly was quoted as having experienced communication failures 
because of cell tower interference.
