Wrong. I guess you didin't see the post from Marcel on the
DIGITAL-SCANNING list, he talked to a Uniden engineer at the CES, or the
other post from Alex on the same list who called Uniden. The digital
scanners WILL track the 9600 baud control channel. Here is Alex's post
([email protected]):

I just talked with Scott Carpenter at Uniden.
This unit WILL do 9600 baud and WILL be geared for consumers.
The release date is around August/September. Price is unkinown at this
time
but he puts it at "NO Where near $1000.00"
The unit will work without the digital card but in analog mode. The card
is
similar to a floppy disk and will fit into a slot on the back of the base

unit, or in the underside of the rechargable battery for the portable
unit.
They also spoke with different police depts and they have no objection to

this being made. They went to digital for clearer comms, not to keep
listeners
at bay.

This doubing is exactly what we saw before the first Trunk Trackers came
out when the some said Motorola was going to stop the Trunk Tracker
before it hit the street, or when someone said the NSA had asked Uniden
not to make the scanner. Now some are doing the same with the digital
scanner. For crying out loud let's think a little more positively. We
get good news and people still want to think negatively.
