Thanks Larry for the quick reply. I have a BC 245. Can
I at least pick up the non-encrypted fire and ems dispatches?

Your not going to hear anything in Nashville because it is a digital system
(see below). From Warren Whitby's excellent website at
http://home.att.net/~wwhitby/
Nashville Motorola ASTRO SmartZone digital This system will
have encryption capabilities and the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Tennessee
EMA will have patches on this sytem. Frequencies: 856-860.2125,
856-860.4625, 856-860.2625, 856-860.4875, 856-860.7125, 856-860.7625,
856-860.9375, 856-860.9875. Update (8/9/98): Nashville has started work on
their system. Right now, the towers are under construction. Update
(10/20/98): This system is supposed to be online in 1999.
Nashville/Davidson County Motorola ASTRO Type II SmartZone Present
plans are for the police and fire departments, NES and the Office of
Emergency Management to use digital radios. The rest of the government will
use analog equipment. The police department's Vice Squad and a few other
users will have fully encrypted digital radios for further security. This
system is under construction and will be fully operational by the year 2000.
There will actually be two systems of 18 frequencies each. 2 frequencies
from each system are reserved for Automatic Vehicle Locator and MDT use.
Frequencies: 856-860.2625, 856-860.4875, 856-860.7125, 856-860.7625,
856-860.9375, 856-860.9875, 856-860.2125, 856-860.4625. The 5 NPSPAC
frequencies will also be part of this system.
So your out of luck until the Uniden digital scanners hit the marketplace.
73 all and good hunting,
