[TrunkCom] Motorola and "home" channels

Dave, List,
Every talkgroup and subfleet "can" have a designated frequency to use
for failsoft, but that is only if it is programmed into the radio.
There are a number of different types of failsoft configurations that
can be implemented. One is that the radio can use a specific frequency
for all talkgroups/subfleets within a trunked personality, another is a
failsoft frequency to use *per* talkgroup/subfleet, and another is
multiple frequencies based upon what site the radio is using (for AMSS
systems).
True, Motorola subscriber units always monitor the control channel (or
set of control channels), but I'm not sure that this places this in the
category of a "home" channel like LTR radios operate on.
Also, larger systems can partition talkgroups to certain repeaters on
the network, but again this isn't analogous to the home channel
situation that LTR systems use -- this is set at the system controller
level and not at the subscriber unit.
So I think it is appropriate to say that Motorola systems (and EDACS as
well) don't have "home channels" in the same like as LTR system
subscriber units.
Confusing... ;-)
