Steve, what you are seeing, on he bottom, of the screen, are the talkgroup =
I.D.s. If your model of radio scanner has alphanumeric capabilities then =
you should be able to tag those Talkgroups so that instead of seeing the =
I.D.s, what you will see is Water Department,
Service Department.
Also, on the third line, you might be abl to Alpha tag this too; so that =
every time the radio scanner stops on a frequency; not only will you see =
the actual talkgroup ( For example; the Water Department ) but to whom the =
Trunked Radio System belongs to.
It should look, something, like this:
Town A TRS
Water Department
You might be even able to Alpha tag the bank of channels.
Of course; the above all depends on the particular model of radio scanner =
that you just purchased.
Even w/o the alpha tagging, you should be able to determine what I.D. goes =
with what service. Chances are pretty good that just because the town, =
county, or state went to trunking; they are probably still using the same =
true and tried dispatch method.
I just hope that your particular model handles Status Bits. Especially if =
there is a F.D. on the system that uses a Status Bit for Paging/Toning =
Out. Some radio scanners do NOT accommodate Status Bits.

Hello,
I, too, am a new novice to the group.
I just purchased a Radio Shack Pro 93 scanner and was given a list of
numbers at the store.
