I'm hearing a new system out here on Long Island from New York
City. Did a little research. FCC database shows the following freqs:

866.45 866.95 867.45 867.95 868.45

Site located at the Chrysler Building. Licensed to NY State Office for
Technology Statewide Wireless Network. This is strange, license issued
March 14, 2002 & expires on Sept 14, 2002.

I hear an EDACS control channel that has been rotating thru the above
freqs. However, my BC-780 shows no talkgroup activity.

Found the following on the NY State OFT website:

STATEWIDE WIRELESS NETWORK (SWN)

Procurement Summary:
The NYS Office for Technology (OFT) intends to develop and deploy an
integrated public safety, public service land mobile radio communications
network for use by State, federal and local governmental entities which operate
within the State's borders. This digital network will use trunking
technology to
provide a spectrum-efficient, statewide mobile radio communications network
that will allow interoperability between all participants and interface
with other
legacy systems as necessary.

Maybe this is just a test of the proposed system. Anyone have any further
info? Are there any other sites set-up in other parts of the
state? Wonder what the LCN order is.

Thanks

Dave
