Wayne I know you know about OTAR. Normally the encryption key is not sent
over the air except during re-keying.

Now you are adding functions I never mentioned.
I never said "you can get the encryption key off the air, then use it to
keyload
into a radio or piece of equipment of this unit." The unit is not designed to
export the key.
It will read the key and demodulate P-25 DES III Once it is demodulated it
will display the "Key ID". The Key ID follows Federal Information Processing
Standard (FIPS) 46-3, Data Encryption Standard (DES) ANSI X9.52, Triple Data
Encryption Algorithm.
I guess you have not used this unit yet.
I was skeptical also until we got one. As far as illegal ....... The unit
also covers the cellular band so I guess it is really illegal. It was also
illegal for the college students who cracked DES and printed how they did it
also. If you are coming to IWCE I would be my pleasure to give you a "Hands
on Demo"
