My name is Sergio Valencia.

I am a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 139 in Bergenfield, NJ.

As part of my journey to Eagle Scout, I must complete an Eagle Scout
Project that assists the community in some way.

For my project, I have chosen to hold a blood drive and health fair.
The goals of this event are to:
- Hold a Blood Drive run by the Red Cross.
- Invite local community organizations to have a table or booth to provide
information to the community about health. (mobile health screenings, free
blood pressure checks, chiropractors, organ donation, eye care, weight
control, pediatricians, exercise, sports groups, therapeutic massage.)
- Allow some organizations to provide 15-20 minute demonstrations of what
they do. (ie, karate, exercise, dance, etc.).
- Help to create awareness of the need for blood donations, organ donation
and other important healthy ways of living.

My goal is 60 pints of blood, which means I need at least 60 people to
donate.

All Blood Donors will receive a FREE pancake breakfast.

Others wishing to visit the Health Fair may purchase a breakfast for only
$5 (children under 5 Free). Proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.

school drives and, with schools out of session, the summer months are an
especially difficult time to collect enough blood to meet patients’
