[Troop139] [bcraces] Technical Preparation "Dry Run" for the Fair Lawn Fireworks and future exercises

Zach,

NICE JOB!

I just love the map!

Adds clarity to the situation!

A couple of points and questions:

1.	The Lambert, and Lyons operators will be closer to the end of the
block as will those on Essex and Canger.

2.	Is it OK if I install KC2RSS-IRC1 into the W2TTT-GW01 node cabinet
tomorrow night or perhaps should I just swap SD cards with you and use my
own Raspberry Pi?

3.	W2TTT-GW01 will be a bit up and to the right on the center of the
arc of the beach.

4.	I am assuming that KC2RSS-IRC2 is on either another Raspberry Pi, or
on a laptop that you have. Could you elaborate on this?

5.	I may be able to provide additional nodes for Dewey and Bush if only
in a vehicle parked near those spots. Depending on how many licensed Scouts
and adults from Troop 139 attend, we should be able to fill in these spots
with functional nodes as well!

6.	Does Dave, N3UXK have a yagi and an omni on his 2W node?

Notes for Gene and Paul:

*	Several of us are obviously going to be missing from the business
meeting to do this field test tomorrow night. Can you alert those in charge
of the park that we are going to be over there from about 7:30 until about
9:00 PM to do this testing in preparation for Sunday>

*	Since it is a holiday weekend, might we consider postponing the
business meeting until next week?

*	I will need two passes on Friday night for friends of mine who are
going to be with Nancy and me on the beach location.

This is a going to be a neat test tomorrow and again on Sunday.
Remember, we are meeting on Friday night at 7:00 PM at the Fair Lawn
Community Center and then will proceed to the park for the test.

On Sunday, we should plan to arrive around 6:00 PM in order to get organized
and to deploy the gear.

Don't forget to charge your batteries for your radios and for your nodes!

Again, nice job all around!

Thanks & 73,

Gordon Beattie, W2TTT

See the attached map of positions and info for the mesh operators for the
fair lawn fireworks on Sunday. Please give me any corrections Friday night
in person or via email

Other operators will be stationed in addtional locations, and at node sites
if needed by Gene WO2W as necessary

additional nodes will be added tomorrow night based operator coverage, and
availability.

Don't forget plenty of water and a folding chair.

Thanks for your help,

Mesh Network Team

Hi Folks!
I have arranged for the use of St. John's Conlon Hall (gym) at 19 North
William St. in Bergenfield from 6:00-11:00 PM on Tuesday night (tomorrow) so
that we can do a "dry-run" or "table-top" exercise of the mesh networking,
computers, IP cameras, radio equipment, power systems and supporting
procedures in preparation for the Fair Lawn Fireworks which are now
re-scheduled for Sunday evening.

Anyone interested in participating is welcome to come.

If you are not sure what to bring, then drop me a note, or give me a call.

We are definitely looking to make sure that the following deployable
functions are tested with the team:

1.	Mesh Network
2.	IP Camera
3.	Internet Relay Chat (IRC) text messaging server on a Raspberry Pi
4.	IRC client software installed and working on laptops
5.	Voice procedures
6.	Internet Gateway access from the Mesh Network

Please note that we have all these elements working now, but that there is a
need for the operators who will be interacting with these technologies to
practice in a calm, controlled environment. A dry-run will go a long way
to ensure that we are prepared and ready.

Building access is flat and under cover while unloading at the front door of
Conlon Hall.

Please let me know if you can attend.

If we want, we can order pizza, or whatever food you like.

Thanks & 73,

Gordon Beattie, W2TTT

Gordon, Zach et al., this Chat Client is a great idea, with great potential
for future events!

Will you provide a brief tutorial before the main event tonight?

And will users require software installation or browser plug ins?

Even if this does not all come together for all of us in time for the
Fireworks, we should follow up at a club meeting with a tabletop exercise.

Zach,

Excellent! I will bring a USB stick to copy your Pi image. You also might
want to enable an ftp and telnet server as well!

Did you set up VNC on it for remote admin security?
