Hi Folks!
The boys did very well this week at Camp Turrell! :-)
Eisen made sure that the Troop's activities and performance could earn the
Troop the Baden-Powell Award and that each Scout and Mr. Vogel each earned
the Polar Bear Award by going swimming at six-thirty on three mornings. We
also had a great gateway because of the efforts of Eisen, Deion and others.
Enclosed below are the Merit Badges earned this week, followed by the
partial list. The partial list has the missing requirements listed.
www.MeritBadge.com <http://www.meritbadge.com/> has the information on what
needs to be completed by our meeting of 8/27 if the Scout is to receive the
badge at the Court of Honor on 9/3. If you need assistance figuring out
these items, please drop me a note or give me a call.
This week is really a tribute to the Scouts themselves for what they could
do for themselves and for each other. Since Wednesday when I arrived, I
heard about previous activities of the Troop from the Scouts and witnessed
more while I was there that confirmed for me that most of the Scouts were
men for others and took the time to be responsible for the needs of others
in addition to themselves. No a lot of direct instruction was needed on the
camp routine as Eisen and his team got things done in fine order.
I want to thank Diana Valencia and Judy Daly for pulling the Troop paperwork
together last week and for the men, Jo Jo Carlos, Kim San Juan, Ken Vogel
and John Racanelli for sharing their time at camp. It was a lot (really too
much) work for these ladies to do in such a short time and we'll make sure
that in the future that the Dads step up and get these tasks done and avoid
the hassle and confusion to the Moms who already do 95% of the fundraising.
We should be proud of our sons as they made the Troop, St. John's, their
families and themselves look great!
Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
