Hi Folks!
We are going to the NJ State Police Camporee in two weeks on May 20-22.
This event is scheduled every three or four years and is being held at the
State Police Academy in Sea Girt, NJ.
Many very special activities and events are planned which are quite unique
in Scouting, so don't miss the opportunity!
We have paid for twenty slots. Two of these slots are taken by Mr. Ralph
Gulko and myself.
We need to know who the eighteen other Scouts and parents are THIS WEEK.
We will be loading up the truck with Troop gear and non-perishable food
items during the Troop meeting on May 17th.
I am going to be going down to the Camporee during the day, to assist with
the sub-camp setup, so coordination of who is going and how they are going
will be required in advance.
See the enclosed email and attachments for additional detail.
KEY POINTS:
* The New Jersey State Police are not allowing for Saturday arrivals.
Friday through Sunday participation is required.
* Mass and other religious services will be provided on site.
* We will need transportation and chaperones for our Scouts as well as
definitive commitment by Scouts and parents.
Those Scouts age 14 and above should consider signing up for the fitness
challenge. I need your signed forms by Tuesday, May 17. They are enclosed
in this email.
There is also a Color Guard competition. If we can get three or more Scouts
to do this, they can practice this week.
See you on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
Happy Mothers Day!
Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT

Dear Unit Leader,
As we approach the 2011 New Jersey State Police Camporee, you will receive a
number of updates via email. These updates will have a number in the subject
line so that you can ensure you stay up to date and don't miss one!
Driving Directions: The driving directions to the NJSP Camporee can be found
online at www.JerseyShore-BSA.org under the New Jersey State Police Camporee
page (located under both the Camping and Activities menus).
Day Trips: To clarify, there will be no Saturday arrivals for campers per
installation policy. All participants are to arrive Friday evening and will
depart Sunday morning. Units and campers may not depart on Saturday evening.
Please remember that we are guests of the New Jersey State Police and the
New Jersey Army National Guard!
Parking Passes: Special parking passes will be mailed on Monday to the unit
contact on file for each troop. You will receive ONE Cargo Vehicle Pass that
allows the vehicle to drive directly to the sub-camp Cargo Vehicle Corral.
You will receive ONE Parking Pass for every FOUR registered participants.
Important: Vehicles without passes will not be admitted to the Sea Girt
facility. No Exceptions!
NJ State Troopers Eagle Scout Association special offer: The NJSTESA will be
offering a limited edition t-shirt for sale at the Trading Post starting on
Friday evening. This amazing shirt design has been prepared to serve as a
perfect Class B uniform shirt and raise funds that go directly back to
supporting local Scouting. Quantities are EXTREMELY limited, so be sure to
get yours early on Saturday!
Merit Badges: Please have your Scouts bring Blue Cards for any merit badge
they plan on working towards. Counselors will have a stamp to complete the
Counselor Info section.
Color Guard Competition: A Color Guard Competition will be hosted in front
of the stage at 10am Saturday for any units interested in participating. A
scoresheet of the maneuvers to be graded has been posted on our website at
www.JerseyShore-BSA.org . Please contact Camping at JerseyShore-BSA.org to sign
your unit up! A trophy will be presented to the top scoring unit!
NJSP Top Physical Challenge: AGES 14+ ONLY! The New Jersey State Police will
be hosting a Top Physical Challenge event for Scouts in premier physical
shape. This competition will be open to 20 Scouts from each subcamp, with
sign-ups taking place at the Friday Leader's Crackerbarrel in each subcamp.
The handbook and hold-harmless agreement (permission slip) can be found
online at www.JerseyShore-BSA.org . Winners will be recognized by the NJSP
at the Saturday Evening show!
Please continue to direct any questions not addressed by the Leader's Guide
to the Jersey Shore Council Camping Team at Camping at JerseyShore-BSA.org .
Thank you!
Sincerely,
2011 NJSP Camporee Committee
