Hi Folks!
We'll meet on Friday at 6:00 PM at St. John's. Please come downstairs and
do not sit waiting in your cars.
Bring your Scout Handbooks, paper, pens and pencils. Also bring full
uniforms, appropriate weather gear and some form of boots, gloves (not fuzzy
gloves!) and wooly hats.
All food will be provided, but please plan to bring a cup, bowl, spoon fork
and water bottles.
It would also be helpful to bring your pocket knife, some rope, fire
starters or dryer lint and a compass.
We'll work on skills and also do lots of small group cooking! Scouts will
be grouped in small Patrols consisting of Boy Scouts and Webelos Scouts for
meals and skill training. We'll also complete some of the requirements for
several Merit Badges that the Scouts need. As part of that, they will teach
appropriate skills to the Webelos Scouts.
Also plan on a hike around Camp Turrell which is deeply snow covered, but a
bit slushy in places. The evening will be spent relaxing and going over
advancement requirements and records.
We are not planning to leave Camp Turrell until after 9:30 AM on Sunday
unless the weather drives us out. There is no CCD at St. John's this
weekend due to the vacation week, so there is no need to hustle back home on
Sunday except for Mass!
We will return and attend the 12:00 Mass at St. John's as a Troop before
dismissal. This applies to all participants on the trip. We have many
blessings from God and we should express our gratitude as a Body of Christ.
Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
