Hello,
The Spirit of Knoxville V (SNOX V) balloon will launch this weekend
from Knoxville, TN. Please visit http://spiritofknoxville.com for
more information and live flight tracking. This will be the last SNOX
flight this season, the trans-atlantic jet stream wind is slowing as
warm weather arrives.

8PM EDT Saturday April 5
(0000 UTC April 6)

This flight is forecasted to fly over the US Eastern Seaboard exiting
the continent somewhere up in New England, so our US listeners should
get an earful overnight on Saturday. Then, it spends Sunday over the
mid-atlantic ocean, going south, below the Azores, and on Monday
curves back up towards southern Europe and northern Africa.

Total crossing time is estimated to be 50 hours.

Thank you all for listening previously and continuing on SNOX V. We
will be arranging for QSL/SWL cards for those who ran DTRC, and
something additional for those who pick up the actual signal.

Frequencies will be announced on the DTRC status page. The balloon
will CHANGE TO A LOWER FREQUENCY, as it gets east of longitude 66W
(the eastern end of the USA.) Both frequencies will be in the 30M
band, and they will be listed in detail on the DTRC status page. This
will be the only change in frequency for the duration of the flight.
This is accomplished with Carl WA4ADG's newly designed DDS HF
transmitter, which is designed to reduce drifting compared to the
prior crystal transmitters.

We will be using the chat room listed on the DTRC status page, please
join us!

Thank you for making this attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean possible,
The Spirit of Knoxville Crew:
Dan, Carl, Mike, Greg, Ben, Mark, and more
