The inaugural session of the Tn. Section A.R.E.S. net is now history.
Participation from across the Section was GREAT. There were one or two Red
Cross Centers that checked into the net, which is a very good idea.
As the Net progresses, HF communications throughout the Tn. Section will
only improve and augment the already vast VHF/UHF systems in place for
Emergency communications.
To the many Liaisons that relayed their checkins from local nets, Thanks for
a job well done. Participation from the local level was good as indicated by
the number of "relays".
The first session had 33 counties in Tn. represented by direct HF and
another 4 by Liaison only.

We hope to hear many more stations check into the net each week. For those
that live in an area without an active ARES group or maybe minimal ham
activity, please checkin and let us know. Our ultimate goal is to have all
95 Tn. counties on the air and represented in some form --- only time will
tell. If you do not know the local ARES Emergency Coordinator for your
county, let us know as we will be glad to give you contact information or
info on how to become and ARES Emergency Coordinator.

Once the Net is " up and running " more smoothly , Training topics and / or
discussion that will benefit your ARES communications will be presented.
Of course if you have some items of interest to share with the Net please
let us know, ie: local ARES activities, communication projects etc.

The Net meets each Monday night on 3980 kHz immediately following the Ten.
Phone Net. If you do not have HF capabilities then the Local Liaison will be
glad to relay you in.

Looking forward to hearing each of you on Monday nights.
