Hello All,
There will be a Executive Meeting this Wednesday  at 7pm at Fire Station 2 in Maumee. All Club Members are welcome and encouraged to attend this and all Committee Meetings.

The March General Meeting will include a remote Presentation from Randy/WU2S and will be about using the AREDN NET Mesh Network. The Presentation will focus on needed Equipment and common applications  and use of a MESH Network.


AN UPDATED VERSION OF FLDIGI IS  AVAILABLE ( 01/29/19 )

In the event that a Snow Emergency is declared on the day of any TMRA Event, that event will be cancelled. Please monitor the 147.270 repeater on the day of any event or Meeting.

TMRA HAMFEST 

Final planning is occurring and we are getting the final details locked down. Once again the TMRA Hamfest is shaping up to be an AWESOME Event.

Sunday March 17th 2019 from 08:00 am through 14:00 pm

As in Past years there will be a V.E. Session, Forums, excellent Vendors as well as Door and Cash Prizes. This Year there will be six $50.00 dollar, and one $100.00 cash prizes and the Grand Prize drawing is for $200.00. There will also be many door prizes. 

The Tickets are just $8.00 and as always Parking is FREE.

Members are reminded that the Hamfest is the primary source of Income for the Club. Please be sure to Volunteer some time at the Hamfest. We often are short handed at critical Times and even just an hour of your time can go a long, long way.


The Silent Auction will be returning to Hamfest in 2019. The Auction Organizer has already begun to gather donations for the Auction. This year, the Money Raised will go to the completion of the Yaesu FT450D Station. This will include a Power Supply and Antenna Tuner.  We were able to purchase this Station with the proceeds of last years auction. Keep an eye on this section for future News, including Items that will be offered. If you have Items that you would like to donate for the Auction, please contact Toby / KE8CZO. All Proceeds from this Auction go to purchasing Equipment for Club Member use.

TMRA SPRING TECHNICIAN LICENSE CLASS

The TMRA is happy to announce the Spring Technicians License Class. This Springs Class will follow the TMRAs typical 2 session format.
The first Session will take place on March 23rd followed by a two week space to allow for study, and then a second session on April 6th. The April 6th session will be immediately followed by a V.E. test Session.  The course, as always is free. The V.E. Test will be a standard $15.00 charge and Books are available through the TMRA for a discounted rate of $25.00. If you, or someone you know is looking to become a Licensed Radio Amateur, please plan to attend.

TMRA New Ham Seminar

I have my License now what?

The TMRA is happy to announce the return of the New Ham Seminar. You have gotten your Ham Ticket and now you stand at the doorway to the entire world of Ham Radio, BUT NOW WHAT DO YOU DO FIRST?
This Seminar was created to help answer that question. There will be a variety of Equipment on-site, as well as experienced Hams to answer questions and give demonstrations.

HOT-SPOT TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR

ART / KX8G, in co-operation with the TMRA Tech Committee, will be hosting a seminar on Digital HOTSPOTS. Art is a leader in the use of this Technology. This informational session will cover a wide variety of information on the topic. Modes will include Fusion, DMR and D-Star. Attendees will learn what these Units can do and how they do it. Attendees will be able to see these units in action and have the opportunity to try them out. If you are looking for info on HOT-SPOTS and their uses please consider attending.

C.W.TRAINING SESSIONS

TMRA Education Director Steve/KC8TVW has announced the return of the C.W. Training Session.
These sessions are a relaxed and fun way to start to learn or to brush up on “The Code”. 
If you are attending and have a Key or other equipment please bring it along.
Don’t have any C.W. Equipment? No problem, Steve will have everything you need to get started.
If you are interested in learning about C.W. this is the perfect way to get started.

TMRA APPAREL.

The TMRA apparel store can be found at www.goldmedalideas.com/tmra .  Gold Medal Ideas can now process orders directly from you via their website, with the specific apparel selection, color and additional callsign/name options (as you choose).  Please check back, however, as TMRA does expect to be adding some new logo options to the site very soon.  

This online store is handled entirely by Gold Medal Ideas, the same group that attends our TMRA Hamfest each year.  In fact, if you order something now, you will see the countdown to our Hamfest on the store website indicating that they could deliver it to you at the Hamfest without any shipping.  

Please let us know if you have a preference for any specific kind of clothing or colors that you don't see available so that we can consider future additions.

ANTENNA BUILD

The TMRA will be hosting an 2 Meter Slot Cube Antenna Build (date TBD). The Antenna for this build can be found in the January 2019 QST Magazine, on pages 35 and 36. The build will be hosted by the TMRA Tech committee, and the cost is estimated to be less then $20.00.  If you are interested please let Dave / KD8EVN know and he will get you on the list. The TMRA Website has a file section with helpful info for all Hams. Just go to www.tmrahamradio.org and click on the Picture Gallery/Docs tab. After you look at all the archived Photos scroll to the Bottom of the Page for helpful Documents and Information.

Have you attended a Committee Meeting? You should. There is a whole lot of Club Business that is handled in the Committee Meetings. If you want to be a pert of the clubs Operation be sure to participate at the Tech Committee and the Executive Committee. Information on their Schedules is listed below.

The TMRA Tech Committee has done some work up at the Repeater site. The Downtown link is once again operating and is available for use.

The 6 Meter Repeater is back up and Running. The Weekly Net on this Repeater has returned. See info in the NET section below for this Net.

St.Lukes Hospital in the private Basement Dining Room.

 ARES IN BRIEF NET  on Sunday Nights at 1930 on the 147.270 Repeater. All are welcome to check in.

NEWCOMERS AND ELMERS NET (see note #1 below)
 
Are you new to Ham Radio, or so you just feel inexperienced, perhaps  you just have a question that you need answered?
Be sure to tune into the TMRA Newcomers and Elmers net each Sunday night at 8pm. This Net follows the ARES in brief Net on the 147.270 Repeater. 
 Net Control Stations for the Newcomers and Elmers Net are needed. If you would like to take the Net and try your hand at Net Control, or if you have a topic to suggest for the Net, get ahold of Dave / KD8EVN

Dan KE8UE, has asked me to list his weekly 6 Meter Nets. Dan runs 2 informal roundtable nets every week on the 6 Meter Band.
The first is  a repeater based net on Monday Nights on the TMRA 6 Meter Repeater. 
The Second is an  SSB based net on Thursday Nights on 6 meter SSB. 
Everyone is welcomed to check into these social Nets.
 
Mondays at 9pm. Roundtable Net on  53.110 with a negative 1 Mhz offset (W8HHF Repeater)

Thursday at 9pm. Roundtable Net on 50.255 USB 
 
Dan also advises that on the Second Monday of every Month he needs a Net Control Operator for this net.
