Bob and the group,

It's pretty easy to replace the bearings on the PAL-350/500 blower. I
described the process in considerable detail at:

http://tmchistory.org/tmc_restoration/PAL-500/pal-500_restoration_notes.htm

scroll 'way down, and you'll find it under the RFE-1 section. Bearings are
common.. I got mine from MSC, but you can probably find them on ebay as
well.

The blower is TMC part number BL-100. There exists a drawing for it, most
likely, but I haven't yet scanned it. If you think it would help, I'll go
hunt it up (assuming it hasn't been lost over time), and add it to the
drawings repository.

The blower was made by IMC Magnetics, and appears to be a custom-made item
for TMC. You can *almost* read the IMC part number on one of the
photographs on my restoration page. You might be able to find an exact
replacement out there somewhere.. just need the voltage/current, overall
size and shape, mounting holes and shaft dimensions, then.. go look. It's
surprising what you can find if you're determined enough! For example, the
blower motor in the GPT-750 is a standard motor and easily obtained from
several sources.
