Duncan: I was catching up on the TMC files and read your IF can problem. I
do not have a replacement can but if you find one here is how you adjust
the can without breaking it. I worked for TMC in Mamaroneck NY
in the production test dept and tuned lots of GPR 90's. We used a tool
that you can make. We took a long handle 1/4 nut driver (Xcelite red handle)
cut off the plastic top just where the inside metal tube starts. The tube is
hollow. We then took a long thin flat blade screw driver and inserted it
down the tube. We could now place the nut driver over the 1/4 inch nut on
the can, holding the IF can lock nut in position. Then inserted the
screwdriver down the nut driver shaft to adjust the screw on the IF can. A slight
twist of the nut driver loosened the IF can lock nut and we could adjust the
coil without any pressure on the can. When aligned a slight turn of the
lock nut finished the Adjustment, it also stopped the screw from moving when
you locked down on the nut preventing the adjustment from changing. I hope
this helps.
