Hi Robert,

Many thanks for the informative message concerning my CV-1722.

Yes, I just looked at the schematic for my CV-591A, and I see what you are referring to with regard to the LC oscilator network for the 2nd conversion oscillator being deleted in the CV-1722; in the CV-591A, this is contained within Z4; in the CV-1722, this is replaced by the XTAL oscillator and XTAL oven.

Why the need for such extreme frequency stability be ovenizing the 1st conversion XTAL oscillator, and by the ovenized XTAL oscillator for the 2nd conversion oscillator?

I understand that very few of these CV-1722 units where produced. Do you or anyone else here have any idea as to how many were produced by TMC, and when? Mine is serno. 41.

I will contact you off-line about ordering the reprint of the CV-1722 manual.
