Years ago when my sons were in scouts. We had cut down 55 gallon barrels
with pipe legs welded to the sides.
There was about a foot ground clearance. These were for campouts where we
couldn't have ground fires.
The grass was unharmed under these portable campfires. I seriously doubt
with good ground clearance
you would damage a parking lot surface. You could even add some sand to the
bottom of the barrel for
some added heat insulation. Keep it simple.
