Bob,

Yes, I went to Ky's for those meetings too and I appreciated him hosting
them .... and roasting his pig.

I am not as active with the WRABA events in Burton because I live near
Dalton and Kidron.  I demo wheelwright stuff at Smithville but my
primary volunteer work is at Sonnenberg Village in Kidron.

I got the Saurer, 1908-1968, fully equipped blacksmith/wheelwright shop
organized and working 2 years ago for Kidron's 200th anniversary.  It
has the original electric blower run by a 80-90 yr old rheostat.  Last
year I got the power hammer working off its flat-belt line-shaft run by
a 100yr old, 2hp, 220 motor.  Now I have the other 3hp, 100yr old motor
in the shop and will have it running our other line-shaft next year.

The back lines-haft runs a 17" powered hacksaw, a drill press and a 20"
wood band saw in the wheelwright area.  It had been running an 1885
velocipede metal/wood lathe on a jack shaft but I moved it and we
restored the original pedal drive.  There were a few stripped gears on
the back feed so I 3D printed those - bright orange plastic.  This
material was just to test the process and hope to change it to a nylon.

This smith was very progressive for his time.  The shop has his Miller
welder.  When I contacted Miller with the serial number, they said Mr.
Miller built that unit in his garage.  With new leads, this might work
but I don't think we want to do that.

I am hoping this shop becomes WRABA's southern shop for our membership
here in Central and Southern Ohio.  Since the Kidron / Amish area here
is so interesting, Maybe we can get a joint meeting down here for our
two clubs.  I am going to contact our WRABA officers and offer that up.
