Be very careful about using denatured alcohol. Much, if not most, of it
contains methanol. Methanol can be absorbed through the skin, or
breathed.
So denatured alcohol may be safe for cleaning surfaces in well ventilated
area, but should not be used on the skin or indoors unless you first
determine that it contains no methanol or other toxic ingredients.
(Denatured alcohol that does not contain toxic ingredients probably
contains bitter ingredients, so still may be unsuitable for many uses.)
I have no data to prove this, but I rather suspect an acetone solution in
water would kill germs. I have no idea what concentration would be needed.
