Frosty, your tale of the Tower of Potatoes is just splendid.  Just
amazing.

We plant potatoes under seaweed: Haul it from the beach, spread it on
existing garden  plot or untilled sod between January and mid-April.
In June, tuck the seed potatoes under the seaweed.  At harvest time,
just rake off the seaweed to reveal clean potatoes.

Works well, gives good yield but nothing like your 250# from 5 sq. ft.

Old tires?  Right.  Never throw anything away.  :-)
